This was a response to the Poll Tax introduced by Margaret Thatcher, I refused to pay it.

I was ducking and diving in the summer of love
And I knew how much I could find
Consider us all the rich the poor
in amongst the pure and the godless

fussing and fighting at the moon of love
and you know how hard I try
It happens to be much more than a dream
In amongst the pure and godless

I’m not alone

You held me to ransom, you made me afraid
and I can’t believe I’m free
Now I’m deeper and deeper, deeper in the red
In amongst the pure and the godless

In amongst the pure and the godless
